The DSG-164 is a digitally programmable setpoint generator. It is used to generate analog setpoints via digital switch inputs.

The module is designed for installation in a shielded EMC enclosure (control cabinet) and mounts onto a DIN rail. It has an IP20 protection rating.

The central inputs and outputs include four digital inputs for activating the four setpoints, as well as an additional digital input for reversing the polarity of the output signal. The four setpoints themselves are continuously adjustable via front-panel potentiometers and can accept values from 0 to 10 V when the internal reference voltage is used to power the potentiometers. The output is a differential output. In the event of no-load operation (no setpoint input active), an externally applied voltage is passed through to the output. The supply voltage is 12...30 VDC.

The most important parameters are the four setpoints (S1–S4) that can be adjusted via potentiometers; their percentage values are relative to the reference voltage used. Additionally, internal DIL switches are used to set the relay voltage (12 V or 24 V) for the switching inputs.

Configuration is performed manually using the potentiometers on the front panel and the DIL switches located on the circuit board.

The DSG-164 is used for analog setpoint generation in situations where four fixed, digitally recallable setpoints with polarity switching are required. The module is cost-effective and uses snap-on module technology. When multiple switching inputs are controlled simultaneously, the one with the highest value is always active.
